The Eclipse of the Century
The total solar eclipse on August 2, 2027 will have a maximum duration of 6 minutes and 23 seconds, making it the longest total solar eclipse on land in this century. Forming in the Atlantic, the path of totality will sweep over the Strait of Gibraltar, northern Africa and the Middle East, ending in the ocean to the southwest of Malaysia.
This rare and awe-inspiring event is a major draw for eclipse chasers worldwide, and no viewing point with clear skies will be a bad one! Some cruise lines and land-based tour operators have released their itineraries (see below); however, resorts and hotels may not release rooms until closer the date of the eclipse.
